Dr. Colin Zhu Of TheChefDoc On 5 Things You Should Know Before Choosing a Daily Supplement

Supplements are meant to supplement, not replace a solid nutritional foundation.

More people are taking daily supplements than ever, but most do not have a clear framework for what is truly helpful versus what is trendy. Some supplements are broadly recommended because they address common deficiencies, have solid evidence behind them, or fill gaps that diet and lifestyle do not always cover. Others are more situation-specific, based on age, lab work, medical history, medications, or goals like sleep, bone health, heart health, gut health, or pregnancy support. We want to explore which supplements doctors and registered dietitians most commonly recommend, what the evidence says, who they are appropriate for, what to avoid, and how to choose quality products.

As a part of this series, we had the pleasure to interview Colin Zhu.
